The Board adopts, promulgates and enforces regulations for the transaction of its business, the management of its affairs, and the promotion of the educational standards of the profession, as it considers expedient and consistent with KRS Chapter 316.
The agency consists of 5 Board members, 2 office staff, and 1 inspector. The Board includes four licensed funeral directors and embalmers and one public (consumer) member. Their objective is to prescribe the standards of efficiency for those who are engaged in the practice of funeral directing and embalming.
The Board is self-supporting through fees assessed for professional licensure. The agency receives no general fund tax appropriation.
Board meetings are usually held the 2nd Tuesday of the month except for June and September. Meetings are held at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, 40 Chenault Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
